SusanDeer Dances with Kage's Lab Coat

TigerTribe! A Troupe Gone Wild!Sometimes performance opportunities come along that aren't your standard venue. This year, TigerTribe! decided to perform at Further Confusion, a convention held in San Mateo in January. The year before, we had performed at the same event, to much acclaim. A lab coat-clad Uncle Kage was the MC last year. We had fun, won a trophy and were otherwise, quite happy with the results of our debut performance.
TigerTribe 2000 photo by CheetahThis year, with a year of performing together as a duet under our belts, Sabra and I felt it was time to go back and see what madness we could create. Its not often we perform in full tiger stripes. Generally, at the dance events, we stick to standard tribal style makeup. But at this convention, we donned our tiger stripes and decided to attack the MC and "initiate" him into our tribe. We co-opted, with very little force, two other participants. Serval, our male dancer, hails from Canada and has only a few Middle Eastern dance classes under his belt. But years of competitive Irish dancing made him a good choice for going on stage with us! SusanDeer our fourth dancer, is part of Uncle Kage's inner sanctum of friends, and we needed some shock value! Susan, turns out, is a natural with enough swagger and wiggle in her hips, that folks couldn't tell us three ladies apart! With the "Initiation" planned, I got to work making matching tiger striped body suits, a pair of gawazee coats and the most critical element of all a tiger striped lab coat. With costumes in hand, we staged our attack. Uncle Kage knew that something was going to happen, but he had no idea what was going to unfold during those fateful five minutes. He was lead up by the MC and left standing in the center of the stage. The music, "She Blinded Me With Science" by Thomas Dolby, was a perfect match for an attack on a gentleman whose lab coat is worn like an icon that has been imbued with significance by his fans, friends and followers. We weren't just taking off a coat we were stripping him of a vestment. But, as TigerTribe! we are irreverent, and so the dance unfolded. We circled him, and then Sabra made the first move, forcing him onto his knees to receive a turban. Then, Serval assisted Sabra in removing the lab coat. SusanDeer, behind them, unfurled the Tiger Striped lab coat to hoots and hollers from the audience. Uncle Kage, however, didn't know what was coming. He was a good sport, and submitted to having his coat removed. And boy, was he shocked when he saw his new coat! Once covered in stripes, he joined in the fun, dancing to the end of the stage where he attempted some wonderful moves of his own, fanning his new tiger coat behind him and owning the spotlight! We won another trophy because of his slick moves! Well, Uncle Kage is now officially part of the TigerTribe!

will go down in the TigerTribe! history books as one of our most
memorable, outrageous and fun performances.
