What Happened to the March Issue?

Many of the vendors who attended Rakkasah have websites. Here are a few to get you started window shopping:

General Vendors

Artemis Imports - Music, videos, books, patterns, costume pieces, jewelry, veils, tribal/folkloric costume elements.

Scheherezade Imports- High fashion glamourous dresses and bra and belt sets. Shimmy scarves, bra/belt sets, skirts and pants and more. Selected music, books and accessories.

Audrena's International Bazaar - Carries complete costumes, music, videos, books and host of other dance items.

Shimmy-Shimmy.com - This booth at Rakkasah was bigger than ever and filled with inexpensive, but beautiful, halters, shimmy belts and jewlery.

Turquis International - Madam Abla Costumes, Egyptian Fringe, Zills, and other stuff.

Specialty Vendors

L. Rose Designs - Carries skirts, cholis, pants and veils for tribal-fusion, Gypsy-esque costumes.

Domba! - This vendor carried bras and belts, skirts and pants. I thought their approach to tribal was fresh and exciting and easy to wear with fantasy-Gypsy, fusion, or even quazi-historical styles.

Saroyan - With a return to 'vintage' styles, the '70s style coins and fringe look is experiencing a resurgance. Saroyan coins produce the best sound and substantial look.

Liquid Silver - This vendor had the most lovely vintage and new assuit and costume pieces made from these luxurious fabrics. Her webiste is extremely informative.

Dancers With Videos

Delilah - Not only were the selling videos, promoting her fabulous Hawaiian retreat, but, they were selling the most lovely goth-esque stretch velvet dresses!

Susanna Del Veccio - I find that the best workout I can get at home is with Susanna's videos. I'm on my second copy of 'Precision Motion Workout!' Her performance videos are inspiring!

Suhaila - Not only was she selling her impressive collection of videos, but she has expanded her line of cosmetics. Visit her very well designed and fun website.

FatChanceBellyDance - The founder of ATS had a buzzing booth at Rakkasah with tribal jewelry, books, bindis and costume pieces from Flying Skirts of San Francisco.

Hahbi Ru - Not only were they selling their videos at Rakkasah, they had lovely Assuit fabric for sale at resonable prices. Their instructional videos are FABULOUS! And for dancers who are looking for male role models, these videos are a great offering.

Alexandria - Not only does Alexandria have a large troupe, she carries video tape and has a nifty web site with pictures of performances. Her Belly Dance Comix are FUN!
